Adsense For Domains – Is Google’s new frontier, Domain Parking?
-
“Domain Park”, Google’s own version of domain parking service had been in existence for many years. However, “Domain Park”, until recently, was exclusively available for domains that were pulling in huge hits (1M+ monthly page views).
The recent expansion of the Adsense program, though, has seen Google venturing into the Domain Parking arena. This expanded program will basically allow publishers to earn revenue through ads placed on undeveloped domains. The good news is that you will not need the cut-off traffic requirements as in the previous “Domain Park” service.
With AdSense for domains, users can find relevant information rather than see empty pages or “page not found” errors. Today we present ads, links, and search results on the pages, and may add other useful information in the future.
Source: http://adsense.blogspot.com/2008/12/extending-adsense-for-domains-to-all.htmlAs with the normal Google Adsense program, there are strict policies and guidelines to ensure positive user experience. You can get an in-depth read on the Policy Compliance requirements here. The new AdSense for domains program will be restricted to the North American region initially and gradually developed to encompass all regions and languages.
What is in it for us?
The process of searching for high paying and reliable domain parking companies is over; at least in theory now. We can monetize our unused/undeveloped domains directly from big G and earn revenue without the worry of being ripped off by some unscrupulous company.
The technicals…
In its current form, use of Adsense for Domains would involve setting up A records and CNAME; simple enough for technical minds but may prove difficult for newbies in web hosting and domaining. Nevertheless, Google is set to move to a more simpler method in the future.
The template
The current “Domain Park” template used for the Adsense for Domains is quite simple and limited in scope and functionality. The CTR (click through rates) may also be quite lower than what specialized domain parking services (such as, Sedo) offer. But do not forget something! This is, after all, Google we are talking about, right? If history has tought us anything, we can safely assume that Google would not be outdone by anyone in any market they venture into.

hmm.. can’t wait to see, what that “more simpler method” would be?
I heard some had (forbidden) techniques that can cause one to earn big-times, and I’m interested to see what big-G will do to counter the act.

Hi nichive. Thanks for your first comment
The simpler method might be direct pointing of the DNS to the “Domain Park” page, although it might be something else. Big G works in mysterious ways lol.
Forbidden techniques are something not seen in Google’s “dictionary”. They may stamp out these methods in no time. Its only a matter of time…

At the moment, Adsense for Domains is limited to the English Language and North American Region. But chances are it will be available to the entire world very soon
December 14, 2008 pm31 12:04 pm
Well, I speak English and I am from The U.S.
I kinda ment that they may be limiting it even further to some of the bigger earners.

AFD is being rolled out in phases. All north American publishers should have the AFD link in their accounts by 18th of this month.

Hey Forsaken,
I wanted to add that, as you know, there are companies out there dedicated to buying & selling parked domain names. I have found very often that every nice domain name remains undeveloped because they have been “kidnapped” by these so-called companies. You have to buy that domain name from them if you want to use it. I really hate that.
Now that Google is entering the domain parking area, I fear that these companies will increment their activities and buy even more domains so they can earn as much money as they can by parking or reselling them.
That really sucks…

I am looking forward to Adsense for Domains program to be launched for my region too. I have so many domains lying around doing nothing. If accepted under this program, they would at least help in paying for my hosting or domain registration costs.

I just noticed that there are limitation for some region, gosh.. I don’t live anywhere near the mentioned region. But if my account tells the other way around, will that be allowed? tee-hee..

I heard about this a few weeks back and coupled a few views together ( http://thenexus.tk/updates-link-love-3/ ). The general consensus seems to be it will not be as good as what’s available now.

If you have a good domain name you should recieve natural traffic to your site. I have one domain that gets over 100 hits a day and was never registered before. It only makes about a dollar a day, but that more than pays for itself and 35 other domains a year. I see it as a way to offset the cost of investments that are still waiting to be developed. If anyone is wondering what a page looks like google has an Example Page here.
