Continuing from my previous blog entry about Adsense for Domains, this post discusses some issues that may raise the question… is Adsense for Domains a big mistake?

I will blog some shortcomings of the early days of this new initiative by Google and things that would make it difficult to succeed in the field of Domain Parking. While I am a big fan of Google’s ability to dominate the field’s they venture into, not everything they touch is Gold. Adsense for Domains may be one of the blemishes in Google’s otherwise domination of the internet. Following are the reasons that may just inflame this blemish further.

What does Adsense for Domains leave being desired for?

Alternative sources of Revenue – Once your domain is parked under the Adsense for Domains program, you can forget about adding affiliate links or product promotion of any kind. In other words, and in layman’s terms, your domain is mortgaged to Google.

Customization – the lending page (or domain park page) is entirely controlled by Google and no customization is possible from your side.

Search Engine Ranking and Indexing – yes, you guessed right! Domains under the Adsense for Domains Program will not be indexed by Google. This means that you can not drive traffic or increase your domains value via any SEO methods.

Monotonous Parking Page – simplicity is what puts Google apart. However, this simplicity would not convert to successful looks for your domain websites. All “Domain Park” templates have a similar simple look and there would be nothing to distinguish your domains from others enrolled under the Adsense for Domains program.

No respects for keyword rich domains – all domains parked under this program would have the same level of approach…keyword richness will not have any advantage over other domains.

Disappointed? Don’t be! Not everything is dark and gloomy about Adsense for Domains. There is a huge potential for higher conversions, judging from the track record of the Adsense program overall. Higher conversions would mean more revenue, as Google has contracts for the advertising feeds it provides to domain parking services. One thing is certain, tough… Adsense for Domains have just provided us customers with alternatives to monetize our undeveloped domains. A winning situation for us. What do you think?

Domain Parking has been around for quite long and now with Google also taking up on it, it would be very interesting as to how the Adsense for Domains would add to the industry and make new shifts to it.

Hi Zijian, welcome to the community, my friend. :)
Google was also in Domain Parking via their service known as “Domain Park”. To no surprise, it was reserved for the so-called Google premium customers. Now since this program has been opened to low hit rate domains too, there are exciting times ahead for this area of online monetization.

Actually I didn’t like this idea (from Google’s point of view). These two quarters, due to economic slowdown, there’s every chance that their revenues will be a little down. They are using all possible peanut income methods to make the balance sheet look better from quarter to quarter.

Wow Ajith, I am so honored to have your comment on my little humble blog. Welcome to Domain Marvelous and I hope to get more comments from you.

BTW, I might just agree with your opinion too. Maybe its the money factor that led to Google venturing into a market where the possibility of success may not be there. Only time can tell. :)

@Forsaken, we are all in the same boat and trying to make it big on the blogosphere some day.

Perhaps you, being a domain specific niche blogger, should digg into this Google strategy a little more and try to tap into the money making opportunity there and further teach us.

There’s money in everything that Google attempts and those who get there first make it big :) And it takes only one big discovery to make us big. I am waiting for that ‘one’ thing as well

It will be pretty hard to get search engine rankings without any real content. Unless for typo domains I don’t tink parking is great. Better add some content and develop the site.
